Падение курса доллара не было неожиданным

Женева. Исполнительный директор Международного валютного фонда, Хорст Кёлер (Horst Koehler), заявил, что недавнее падение курса доллара не было неожиданным, и что оно также может стать причиной форс-мажора для некоторых стран.

«Обесценивание доллара в настоящее время имеет отношение только к дефициту валютного счета США и не представляет собой какую-либо экономическую неожиданность. Это просто вид логической экономики», — сообщил г-н Кёлер на конференции. «Повышение и снижение курса доллара повлечет обсуждение и принятие решений всеми крупными странами, но пока я не наблюдаю развития такой ситуации. Учитывая гибкость американской экономики, совершенно преждевременно хоронить доллар».

Кёллер посетил Женеву вместе с Президентом Мирового банка Джеймсом Вулфенсоном (James Wolfensohn). Целью их визита были переговоры с Генеральным директором Международного банка реконструкции и развития — Супачай Панитчпакди (Supachai Panitchpakdi), а также с Генеральным консулом организации.
