Гибралтар: Результаты референдума

На прошлой неделе на Гибралтаре состоялось празднование. Оно стало финалом референдума о суверенитете, по результатам которого 98.97% опрошенных проголосовали возможности объединенного суверенитета с Испанией.

Для правительства Гибралтара есть еще одна приятная новость — избирательный комитет по иностранным делам выпустил отчет, осуждающий процесс англо — испанских переговоров.

Отчет опровергает предположения иностранного секретаря, Господина Стро, утверждавшего, что решение правительства Гибралтара о проведении референдума было «эксцентричным»:

На территориях Британской юрисдикции очень важно наличие возможности для выражения демократических взглядов, особенно, когда территории являются такими решительными. Мы рекомендуем британскому правительству принять во внимание мнение правительства Гибралтара, которое нашло свое выражение в референдуме от 7 ноября.

Однако, как оказалось, существует маленький шанс, что это действительно произойдет. Спикер премьер — министра Тони Блэра в частности сказал следующее:

Существуют вопросы, от которых нельзя отвернуться и которые необходимо обсуждать с народом Гибралтара и с Испанией… Я не думаю, что референдум открыл нам глаза на что — то, чего мы до этого не знали.
