Решение о предоставлении Украине статуса наблюдателя в этой региональной организации было принято в ходе 9-го заседания совета министров Ассоциации карибских государств (АКГ), которое состоялось 27 ноября в Панаме, сообщил во вторник, 9 декабря, руководитель пресс-службы Министерства иностранных дел Украины Маркиян Лубкивский.
Он отметил, что главным интересом Украины в сотрудничестве с АКГ является
обеспечение благоприятных условий доступа украинских товаров на рынки Карибского региона.
Среди возможных сфер сотрудничества Лубкивский выделил сотрудничество в финансово-инвестиционной сфере, сооружение гидро- и теплоэлектростанций, создание совместных предприятий в сельскохозяйственном и транспортном машиностроении, в горнодобывающей отрасли.
По словам дипломата, Украина также заинтересована в сотрудничестве с АКГ в сфере высоких технологий, в том числе и в использовании украинских космических технологий для предупреждения негативных последствий климатических явлений в Карибском регионе.
Маркиян Лубкивский отметил, что стороны могли бы также сотрудничать в борьбе с незаконным оборотом наркотиков, организованной преступностью, терроризмом, контрабандой и отмыванием денег.
